Music: An inspiration, a universal language that the world understands
Music is something that never fails to inspire me no matter what.
I am presently listening to the streaming of the live concert called" The Concert for Bangladesh".
I was under an awe to see flawless performances by some world famous artists. Particularly the Sitar and Sarod duet by Ravi Shankar and Ustad Ali Akbal Khan (Amjad Ali Khan's father) with Allarakha Khan (Zakhit Hussain's father) on tabla. It was such a rousing experience. I was watching on the computer and was completely mersmerized. I wonder how the experience must have been to see them live.Throughout the performance I couldn't help watching the faces of the performers and the only thing that was apparent on their faces was- calm and confidence, they were playing difficult pieces and nowhere throughout their performance was there any stress or any kind of fear that was seen. I understand that these are great performers but to see them doing rather performing in front of such a big audience with so much ease and also having fun at the same time was a heartening experience. I am way beyond inspired.
It makes me wonder how much hard work must have gone into this-to transform once an amateur into a perfectionist. Also, I wonder how well they know their stuff- on seeing the liberties that the artists took while performing is not possible unless your basics are very clear. But there is also one amazing thing that music does to you-the flow. It's not difficult to play-keep playing and just get lost in your own performance. But then I also wonder in my head how amazingly these artists were coordinated although they got lost in their performance.
Such performances encourages one to pursue their passion and do what they are doing in such a way that they can inspire the whole world.
Another thing that I could not help appreciate was the audience-the audience in the concert was great. This concert was organized for Bangladesh way back in 1971 in Madison Square,New York in the United States. It was amazing to see how supportive the people of US were. That is something that I always think, about how US is open about everything and how it appreciates art and talent. This appreciation, encouragement and support has and would always be meaningful in every way to the entire world.
This concert is a great example of the confluence of art and culture that US as a country supports very well. Imagine-A concert for Bangladesh organized by George Harrison in the US! I don't know if I'm making a big deal out of it, maybe I am, but here, all I see that if everyone comes together for a cause, be it anywhere on this planet- there is a great possibility that we all can overcome it......so here I pray with all my heart for a world of the similar kind.
